2D raised impressions are created by taking an impression of the hand or foot in a soft natural white clay. This captures the shapes & lines which will then show up in the finished product. The clay impression is then used to create the raised plaster impression. A variety of colours and finishes are offered and the raised impressions can be prepared to be hung directly or placed in a frame of your choice. Please note that due to the fragile nature of the plaster, framing is recommended.
3D CASTING (Age 3 weeks to 9 months)
The mould is created using a material called alginate; It is hypo-allergenic, natural and safe for even the most sensitive skin. In fact, it is the same material that dentists use inside people's mouths to take moulds of teeth. The hand or foot is coated with petroleum jelly then placed into the alginate and left for approximately one minute to set. When the mold is removed from the skin, it captures every little detail right down to the fingerprints. The rest is done after your appointment when the cast is created using fine plaster. After it sets, the alginate is removed and the cast is refined and left to dry. Once dry, the final plaster cast is hand painted, finished and presented as you have chosen. Fragrance free baby wipes and Vaseline will be used.
3D FREESTANDING SCULPTURES
3d freestanding sculptures can be done for adult with adult, adult with child/baby and child with child. Before the process, a pose is selected and we will do a rehearsal positioning. Hands then will slowly dip into an alginate-filled container. Once the alginate is set your hands are slowly eased out of the flexible rubbery mold. These casts makes wonderful gifts for anniversaries, couples or families.
